Welcome to the Cottage

From Calais head for Paris. Don't forget that the new motorway (via Boulogne - the A16) to Paris is now open.

You then need to head south for the A71 - E9 motorway to Orleans which you then need to take as far as Vierzon where you turn off onto the A20 which is signposted Limoges.

Just before Limoges, however, - at junction 23 - turn right and follow the map on the left.  Having left at junction 23, come into the centre of Bellac (N145-E62).

Turn left at the traffic lights, (though there is a turning left before the lights which is a short cut) and take the road to Limoges.  See map below.  (Coming from Poitier go straight through Bellac.)  2 kms from the centre, take a left at the roundabout signposted St Junien-les- Combes.

Go straight through the village until you see the end of town sign.  Turn right (signposted Frachis) and the first house you see on the right is us.

Alternatively go on to the recently opened junction 23.1 following the signs for Châteauponsac (D711), then Rancon (D1).  Some six miles before Bellac turn left for St Junien-les-Combes on the D72.

Travel Guide

To Limoges Bellegarde Airport or Poitiers Airport by RyanAir. RyanAir fly from London Stansted Airport, East Midlands or Liverpool Airport. - Also there is Southampton to Limoges with FlyBe. Hire cars are available at the airport or Click HERE to go to a colleague's site for inexpensive car hire.

By rail:
To either Limoges or Bellac. Eurostar trains from London, Waterloo Station to Paris, Gare de Nord Station. There, change stations to Paris Austerlitz Station, (by taxi or 6 stops on the tube). Then fast train, (3 hours), to Limoges. Depart say 8.40, arrive 16.40. Alternatively, on Tuesdays and Thursdays there are Eurostar trains which go to Limoges via Lille. Change trains at Lille by simply changing platforms. However, because of their convenience, these trains frequently get fully booked. It is therefore necessary to book well in advance. With SNCF there are big discounts for booking in advance, (e.g. €105 return fare to London Waterloo booked 3 weeks in advance). We do not know whether this is true of British railway companies.
